- APS Technology Group is looking for an experienced System Engineer to join our engineering team to work on existing products and projects. In this position you will work with an interdisciplinary team to gather, document, and communicate to the various stakeholders the following: customer requirements, process flows, gap analysis, system models & diagrams, sequence diagrams, test documents, installation checklists, and customers acceptance artifacts. These and other technical aspects of the system and deployment must be communicated effectively to all stakeholders including the customer, management, engineering, project management, installation and customer service.
The open position is for a motivated, creative, system engineer who is willing to work in a loosely matrixed organization where the project manager manages the delivery to the customer and engineering manages the development of the components and products. If you are looking for a small company environment, and the satisfaction that the systems on which you work are being deployed and actively used around the globe, then this is a position for you.
Requirements:
5+ years experience as a System Engineer in a System of Systems environment
Experience with standard System Engineering functions such as gathering and documenting requirements, risk management, functional specifications, system architecture, and life cycle management
A strong background in software and hardware development is required
Willingness and ability to work as a supervisor and technician in the field to effectively manage the deployment of large systems.
Physical ability to handle heavy objects in the field
Physical ability to drive a scissor or boom lift
Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) card
Extensive experience with client/server application architectures.
Experience with full life-cycle development methodologies including Test Driven Development
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
Ability to manage assigned tasks for multiple concurrent projects and hit key milestones on time
Strong work ethic and desire to work as a member of a small company
Relevant experience in the transportation industry, specifically in the marine and rail terminal environment, is preferred.
BS Degree in EE, CS or other relevant degree is desired
Possess a valid US Passport
